Headteacher Strategic Engagement Session - SEND Reform

This strategic session will provide an opportunity to:

  • Help shape Leicester's shared vision for SEND support and inclusion through to 2029.
  • Explore the role of school leaders in creating a more inclusive education system.
  • Consider how SEND reform supports wider priorities around attendance, achievement, belonging, wellbeing and school improvement.
  • Influence how support is organised through Leicester's six locality clusters to strengthen collaboration between schools, trusts and partner agencies.
  • Discuss how the additional investment available through the SEND Reform Programme, including Experts at Hand, can have the greatest impact for children, young people and schools.
  • Explore how we build a system that provides support earlier, reduces reliance on statutory processes and enables more children and young people to thrive in their local communities.
  • Identify the leadership, culture and partnership changes needed to deliver long-term improvement across the city.

This is not consultation on a completed model. The purpose of the session is to co-produce Leicester's future SEND system together, ensuring that the voices of school leaders help shape both the vision and the practical delivery of reform from the outset.
