Reading Expectations for End of KS1
Year group: 2
This is a two-part course, and teachers are expected to attend both sessions
Session 1:
This session will support teachers to
understand age-related subject knowledge and skills essential for word reading, fluency and comprehension by end of Y2. It will:
• Clarify age related end-of-year reading expectations
• Explore strategies to support progression in reading
Session 2:
This session will support teachers to:
-
Make accurate end-of-year assessment judgements for reading
-
Identify key assessment information to support with transition to KS2 discussions back in school
Teachers will be required to bring a sample of children’s reading evidence to discuss and moderate with colleagues from other schools
These sessions will support teachers with making on-going accurate assessment judgements in readiness for KS2 which serve as a good ‘mid-point’ reference point for schools.
Sessions are suitable for Y2 teachers new to teaching, new to year group or who require a refresher of year group expectations.
