Introduction to Trauma Informed Practice

As a Local Authority, we are named partners within the Trauma Informed joint strategy for LLR. By attending this session, you would be aligning with this strategy and build upon your skills to embed the trauma informed approach in your practice. The aim of the session is to increase understanding about trauma, its's impact and the role you as a practitioner can play to prevent or mitigate its impact on the families you work with.

The objectives are:

  • To explore the basic principles of Trauma Informed Practice
  • To enhance knowledge and understanding on how trauma impacts children & families
  • To reflect on ways to work more effectively with children, young people and families
  • To enhance knowledge and understanding on ways to support families and prevent re-traumatisation

Introduction to the Lundy Model

The session will help you to understand the principles of the Lundy Model and to feel confident using this to support children and young people having their voice heard, and to understand their lived experience.
Using this model of participation, you can support children and young people to be heard and express their views in a way that they decide is best.

Introduction to Leicester's Practice Methodology: 2 day Assessment & Analysis Training

This interactive 2-day training is the core training course for front line Children's Social Care, Early Help and Prevention practitioners and managers to support the use of Leicester's practice methodology.

There will be a specific focus on the Signs of Safety assessment framework 'mapping', and also writing statements, goals and scaling,
In addition to this, you will gain an understanding of 'how we work' in Leicester, and the connections between relationship based practice, an understanding of the impact of trauma, anti discriminatory practice and the child/young persons lived experience.

We will also apply the principles of 'slowing down our thinking' and the use of best questions.

We will apply assessment and analytical skills in the session, alongside thinking about immediate planning for safety, and understand how this supports the planning process, and link this to research, policy and procedures.

Introduction to Leicester's Practice Methodology (LSCPB Session) 1/2 day

This half day multi-agency session is delivered to multi-agency workers across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.

Please note: Leicester City Staff who are attending the 2 day assessment and analysis training do not need to attend this course.

This session, will give you a brief overview of the principles that underpin work with children, young people and their families, and will introduce you to the main Signs of Safety assessment tool ,'mapping', and statements, goals and scaling.

Working Cross Culturally: Building Confidence and Curiosity

This interactive course is designed for social workers and professionals working with children, young people, and adults (or would you prefer professionals/practitioners?) who want to strengthen their confidence and curiosity when working across cultures.
Using the Assessment Framework Triangle through a cultural lens, the course supports practitioners to explore how culture, identity, and lived experience shape family life, communication, and assessments.
You’ll take part in practical, reflective learning using case studies, tools, and discussion to bring theory into real-world practice.
