This one day course will offer you an introduction to working with worries around actual or suspected intra-familial child sexual abuse.
The session will include:
- Definitions, context and key information
- Blocks & Challenges
- Myth busting: stereotypes and perceptions
- Impact
- Procedures, practice guidance and tools
- Communication: How we respond including; Best questions & confidence building – what you can and cannot say.
The session apply the learning by working on a scenario that will cover:
- Identification of Risk: Recognising and responding
- Talking to children and young people
- Working through blocks and challenges
- Creating immediate safety (bottom lines & contingencies) – responding to changing information
- Tools to support practice
It will also introduce you to resources from Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse
